Sounds of the Season

I've always loved music, it evokes a lot of emotions for me and Christmas music is no exception. I started my collection of holiday music when I was in college and I've bought or received a new CD nearly every Christmas since. Other than a couple of exceptions, I only listen to Christmas music between Thanksgiving and New Years. I've found the music becomes ordinary if I listen too much and it looses its power to bring the excitement and spirit of Christmas.

When Jake and I were first dating we drove around one night looking at the Christmas lights. We were listening to Jim Brickman's album, "The Gift." To this day, it's one of my favorites. That same year, and the first year we were married, we went to the Christmas concert at Temple Square in Salt Lake City. I wish we could have continued the tradition, but it's a little hard from the other side of the country ; )

Last year Jake took me to a Jim Brickman Christmas concert here in Richmond. While it was not the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, it was a wonderful evening of beautiful music with my sweetheart. If you haven't listened to Jim Brickman's Christmas albums, you should, he has several, and I think I have most of them.

My all time favorite Christmas song is "O Holy Night" and my favorite version is by Josh Grobin, although Martina McBride does it beautifully as well. Amy Grant's Christmas albums are also at the top of my list. What are some of your favorites for the holidays??
