{Macro Monday - Ice Storm}

We experienced an ice storm here last week. It was really beautiful to see everything with with a thick layer
of shiny ice. Of course they canceled school for the day which the kids always love. Thankfully I didn't have
anything major planned and we could enjoy a quiet day at home together.

First of all, sorry to all you non insect lovers who might visit my blog today : ) This is a far cry from the types of
images you usually see here, but this praying mantis was too cool not to share. Jake found him when he was
trimming some bushes on Saturday and the kids were excited to have it as a pet for the day. Hannah named it Amanda.

Summer in Fredericksburg brings lots of beautiful Queen Anne's lace to the area. I was taking pictures of
Sarah a few days ago (more to come on that soon) and couldn't resist a few close ups. The light was amazing
and I had some fun adding a little texture to these for a more artsy look.

We've had lots of "friends" hanging out around our zinnias. Emma and I watched this little bee for quite
some time one morning, he was very busy.
