{A Gift for You}

So a couple of weeks ago I sat down to start making a banner for my mantle. I called my sister for a bit of inspiration and she reminded me that I would be needing to hang stockings from my mantel. {Giving Thanks}

Six years ago we started our tree of thanksgiving tradition. Hannah was three and Ben was 9 months old. Some years we
work on it through the month and some years we've done on Thanksgiving, but we always look forward to this tradition.
President Monson has said "Sincerely giving thanks not only helps us recognize our blessings, but it also unlocks the doors
of heaven and helps us feel God’s love." We've been focusing on gratitude this month in our family and I hope our tree of
thanksgiving has helped my children recognize the many blessings and love from our Father in Heaven.

{Halloween Decor}

I'm not necessarily a big fan of Halloween, but the kids get so excited when I start getting out a few decorations and
it is fun to have something different to enjoy on the mantle. Anyway . . . The "Happy Halloween" banner is new this year.
I designed it digitally using papers from Creatively by Crystal's Spooky Paper Collection. I printed on card stock
then used quarter inch grosgrain ribbon and attached the triangles using good ole Elmer's Glue. I'll send a digital copy
of the project to the first 5 people to leave a comment (include your email if I don't have it).

{Candy Bar Wrappers}

I've made a couple of candy bar wrappers and thought I would share. I made the pink one to be handed out to the Relief Society sisters for their birthdays. The tie wrapper was used for the men at church last year on Father's Day. I use Hershey's Chocolate bars (they come in a large box at Costco) but you could use any similarly shaped bar. These were cuter when the Hershey bars came wrapped in foil but I can't find them anymore. I'm willing to share the template designs if anyone is interested.

Mr. January

I posted a link for my calendar file back in September, but I've been getting a few requests so I thought I would post it again in case you missed it : ) What you see below is what you will be downloading. It's a photoshop file and each month and the two frames are separate layers that you may use any way you wish. You can get more information by reading my calendar posts from 2008 and 2009.

2010 Calendars

I've already been getting questions and requests for the 2010 calendar file : ) I haven't even started putting my pictures together, but I thought I could at least get the date part finished. If you're not sure what calendars I'm talking about, take a look at the 2009 or 2008 versions.

2009 Calendars

Family, friends and bloggers have been requesting 2009 calendars and I'm happy to say they are ready! This year's file is similar to the one from last year. It's a month and days only file, you choose your own size, color, pattern etc. then add the little calendar. This year I'm also including templates for the bracket frame and an oval frame. I've include a sample of a few of my own 2009 calendars. I'll be printing mine as 4x6.

I've had several people ask about my storyboards, so I thought I would share some basic templates. These aren't actions, but rather dimension for cropping and a general layout for putting your images together. You can either go by what you see here (click to view larger) or you can download the full size version of all three along with some basic instructions. . . . and just a quick one of Emma with my dad. Since she still flies for free (but mostly because my mom and dad really wanted to see her) Emma went to Idaho with me last month for the funeral. She sure loves her grandpa. She was always coming to him with her little arms up wanting some loves and kisses, then she'd want down, and a few minutes later she would go right back for more. Thanks dad for being a wonderful grandpa!

Happy New Year

I hope you're all recovering well from the holidays. We had a wonderful time in Idaho visiting grandparents and cousins. It can be hard to be far from family during the holidays and we were blessed to not miss out on all the family fun this year. We arrived home around midnight New Year's day. I definitely have some catching up to do around here and plenty of photos to edit.

I made these 2008 desk calendars as Christmas gifts for family. If you'd like to make one yourself, I'll email you the psd file for the calendars (see side bar for email.) I made mine 4x6, but I've also seen them 5x7 size. The calendars can be resized to fit either. I used a hard round brush tool for my circles, you could also use the marque tool to make squares rather than circles. The second picture shows the frame I use to display the photos. It's one of those inexpensive clear frames you can find at Walmart, they come in both sizes. It was so fun looking back through favorite photos as I put them together.
