Easter Weekend

What a wonderful weekend we were able to enjoy together! The Easter Bunny paid us a little visit Saturday morning and left a bucket of berries for each of us (I guess he knew how much candy the kids would get at the egg hunt later that morning ; ) Hannah was so excited, she told us the Easter Bunny must have a big garden and that he picked berries just for them because he knew how much they loved strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. I'm so glad there was no disappointment about berries instead of candy, this may become a new tradition. The bunny also left kites for Ben and Hannah.
Next we were off for brunch and an egg hunt with friends from church. The kids had a great time, even little Emma. I give her a little pink bucket and she carried it around all morning. When it came time to hunt eggs she walked out with her little bucket, picked up the first egg she came to and kept it in her other hand and just kept walking. A few minutes later she noticed another egg she liked so she traded the pink egg for a yellow egg and then she was done. Too cute!
Later in the afternoon we went to the botanical gardens and mostly let the kids play in the children's garden. When we got home we dyed our Easter eggs. That night we watched the Samantha movie from the American Girls series. Hannah finished the books last weeks so we all enjoyed the movie together. Whew, what a day!
Sunday was much more relaxing and allowed us time to talk about and celebrate the true reason for Easter. We have a set of eggs that contain scriptures and symbols from the atonement, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jake and I hide them really good, then the kids find them and we take turns opening them and discussing the contents. It's a wonderful way for our family to ponder on the gifts we have received from the Savior.
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well.

I love the idea of the fruits. These days candy just isn't as appealing to me and I love the picture of the buckets! Great contrast. Emma looks adodorable, as always. Love you!

love, love, love the idea of the fruit. I just may be stealing that from you!
Where did you get the eggs you hide on Sunday? What a great idea to teach the true meaning of Easter.
i love the one in color, but if i went b&w, I'd go more contrasty! but that's just me. i love the dark blacks and the fresh whites so i'm a sucker for some serious contrast. beautiful work!
